Blue Coat Church of England Academy is located in Walsall, a market town in the county of West Midlands. Principal David Smith was looking for an electronic solution to appraise and provide quality assurance for the large number of staff in his secondary 900 student academy. He outlines his journey so far with our integrated performance management solution.
Monitoring quality in all aspects of the academy would be difficult without SchooliP. Old fashioned methods such as paper and Microsoft Excel generate a lot of information, but they weren’t easily accessible. WIth SchooliP, everything is in one place and it is a workable solution.
SchooliP is a comprehensive school improvement tool that incorporates school development planning, self-evaluation, observations/monitoring, appraisals and professional development. A number of bespoke elements within SchooliP have been created to meet the needs of the academy. David commented that implementing change needs careful planning.
It was a challenge implementing it part way through the academic year. We know that we need to exploit all the functionality around action planning to utilise SchooliP more fully. Nevertheless, we have edited the system and implemented terminology changes for coaching. This has allowed us to adapt SchooliP to our in-house culture.
We asked David what his future thoughts were regarding his SchooliP journey.
The next challenge will be the new Ofsted framework. In the long-term, SchooliP will continue to support the development of our performance management procedures. So far, SchooliP has reduced workloads for some of our staff who no longer need to monitor an appraisal paper chase. By definition, costs are being saved.
Standish Community High School enjoy a full data integration service with their MIS. As a result, all staff information is automatically synced from their Capita SIMS management information system into SchooliP. This improves efficiency and alleviates the need for time-consuming data entry for David and his colleagues.
We look forward to supporting David and his colleagues as they continue their school improvement journey. We are proud to support a wide range of schools and if you would like to enjoy the benefits of SchooliP, please get in touch.
